Sharing Stories is an exhibition celebrating the achievements of the ANU School of Art & Design’s innovative Balawan program and the artsACT supported SOA&D Bundian Way Arts Exchange. Works in Sharing Stories explore and acknowledge ongoing creative engagement with First Nations perspectives in and around the Bundian Way - an ancient cultural and more recent, shared history pathway in south east Australia, from Targangal (Mount Kosciuszko) to Bilgalara (Fisheries Beach, Eden).

The Balawan elective and the artsACT supported SOA&D Bundian Way Arts Exchange programs actively build relationships between local, regional Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups and promote cultural awareness and active reconciliation. The success of these programs has been possible thanks to the incredible generosity of key contributors such as the Twofold Aboriginal Corporation, individuals including Uncle Ossie Cruse, Alison Simpson, Natalie Bateman, Meaghan Holt, Shane Herrington, John Blay and Franz Peters; ongoing support from The Australian National University and funding support from artsACT for the Bundian Way Arts Exchange.

These programs were initiated by Dr Amanda Stuart, Amelia Zaraftis and Heike Qualitz, and continue to be led by Dr Amanda Stuart and lecturers and contributors Amelia Zaraftis, Kate Murphy, Aidan Hartshorn and Waratah Lahy.

We also acknowledge and deeply thank Professor Emerita Denise Ferris, Ms Barbara McConchie, Professor Rae Francis, Dr Beck Davis, Associate Professor Brenda L Croft, Dr Sarah Scott, Dr Jilda Andrews, Emeritus Fellow John Reid, Professor Asmi Wood and Sub Dean of Australian Indigenous Studies Ms Mary Spiers Williams for their sustained support.
