Anthea Callen Cuts Through on Fake or Fortune?

Monday 3 December 2012

Dr Anthea Callen's appearance in the BBC's Fake or Fortune? show is being aired this week in Australia on ABC 1. In this episode, the presenters attempt to determine the authenticity of a Degas painting depicting a ballet dancer which has been in contention since the 1970s. Dr Callen's expert opinion was sought and this quote was taken from a review of the episode in the UK's The Telegraph:

"The best part was when world-renowned impressionist expert Dr Anthea Callen gave her view that the authenticity of the painting was on a knife-edge. 'With the greatest respect to you, Anthea, connoisseurship is an opinion, and there will be several opinions,' said Bruce.

'Of course,' came Dr Callen’s butter-wouldn’t-melt reply. 'But some people are more informed than others.'"

The episode airs at 9:30pm on Monday December 3, 2012 on ABC 1
