ANU’s 2018 India Update conference was co-convened by Chaitanya Sambrani from CAHAT. Titled Voices of Difference: minority positions in a majoritarian world, the conference took place on 15 and 16 November, and attracted substantial interest from scholars, students and community members working on South Asia at ANU, across Australia and internationally. The conference featured presentations from Australian and international scholars working on diverse topics including language and literature, public services, minority rights, sex and gender, foreign policy, and art and urbanism. Chaitanya has been working as Deputy Director of the ANU South Asia Research Institute since April. This is the first time that a member of the School community has collaborated with colleagues from across CASS and CAP in organising this biennial event.
