Helen Maxwell is best known for her first commercial gallery, aGOG (australian Girls Own Gallery) which brought to Canberra some of the best contemporary art by women working across Australia. In 2000 she opened Helen Maxwell Gallery in Braddon, the heart of Canberra, expanding her stable to include male artists.  She currently works as a curator, arts consultant and valuer. In 2011 she was awarded an OAM for services to the Arts.
