Touch Designer workshop with Andrew Quinn

Wednesday 14 October 2015

Computer graphics artist and musician Andrew Quinn recently visited the ANU School of Art Photography and Media Arts Workshop to run a week-long workshop about creating sound reactive visuals using Touch Designer software.

Quinn, who is Australian but lives in Milan, specializes in video installations for multi-screen and immersive environments as well as digital graphics for interactive dance productions and contemporary music.

His extensive background includes creating digital effects for films including The Matrix, Tomb Raider and Dark City. He uses techniques such as video mapping performance, laser scanning and 3D imaging to create virtual models of traditional sets in live music productions including Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle for the Hungarian State Opera and L’Orfeo by Monteverdi at Lewellyn Hall in Canberra.

Participants of the Touch Designer workshop came from the Schools of Art, Music and Computer Science, and had the opportunity to create sound reactive visuals for a live performance on September.

Documentation of the workshop can be seen here.
