Design Canberra kicks off this week and features a jam-packed nine day program of events involving 750 participants in 70 activities held in various creative spaces around Canberra.
The festival brings together artists, designers and architects with businesses, educational and collecting institutions to focus on instigating cultural collaborations at local, regional and national levels.

There are many ANU School of art students, artists and alumni involved in various events throughout the festival, including: 

Crafted ’15

Crafted ’15 is a showcase of work by ANU furniture students, presenting physical objects made through processes of research, experimentation, discovery and growth. Exhibitors Chelsea Lemon, Chris Dalzell and Melissa Nickols spoke to Design Canberra about their work here.

Stitched Up

Also showcasing the work of craft and design disciplines at ANU, Stitched Up features new work by emerging textile artists from the School of Art Textiles workshop.

The Multiples and Production: The Unique Offering

“Why make anything for a world already full of ‘stuff’?” is the provocative question posed to artists featured in The Multiples and Production: The Unique Offering exhibition. It showcases the outcomes of a new course offered by ANU School of Art which focuses on bespoke and industrial production, sustainability and disposability, exploring sites and traditions, value-laden questions, and new technologies.

Alison Jackson Open Studio

Gold and silversmithing graduate Alison Jackson opens her studio to show examples of hand-made jewellery, speak about setting up her own studio, and share her design practice.

Tomkins + Peoples + Woolfe pop-up exhibition

An exhibition of collaborative work by gold and Silversmithing alumni Nellie Peoples, industrial designer Sam Tomkins and cook and landscape designer Mathew Woolfe, who work together to explore how the experience of sharing a meal can provide a context for inventive design.
