Inaugural EASS Margaret Munro Prize offered to graduating students

Wednesday 11 November 2015

The inaugural Emerging Arts Support Scheme (EASS) Margaret Munro Prize will be offered to students graduating from ANU School of Art in 2015. It offers students a $2,000 cash prize and the opportunity to be part of a group show in the ANU School of Art Foyer Gallery in 2016.

Margaret Munro has had a long association with the School of Art and the Centre for Art History and Art Theory (as the former ANU Art History Department). She studied at the school when it was part of the Canberra Technical College in the 1960s, and completed her Honours and Masters’ degrees in Art History in the late 1980s and 90s. Following that, Margaret served on the Board of the Canberra Institute of the Arts for a number of years. She has been a keen supporter of visual arts and has donated the money for the award to enable emerging artists to achieve further success in their first year post art school.

Recipients of the Margaret Munro Prize will receive financial support with creating or exhibiting new work, and assistance from SoA staff members with professional practice including grant writing, project proposals and exhibition opportunities.

Applications from graduating students are due November 15, 2015.
