Leah Bullen, current PhD candidate in the ANU School of Art Painting Workshop, and alumnus Lionel Bawden, also from the Painting Workshop, have both been shortlisted for the Wynne Prize. Painting alumna Penelope Cain has been shortlisted for the Sir John Sulman Prize.

As two of Australia's most prestigious art prizes, the Wynne Prize is awarded to landscape painting of Australian scenery or figure sculpture, and the Sulman Prize to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project by an Australian artist.

The Wynne and Sulman Prizes will be exhibited with the Archibald Prize from the 16th of July until the 19th of October 2016, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
