Anthea Callen is also Professor Emeritus of Visual Culture at the University of Nottingham, and Honorary Research Associate at the Institute of Health, University of Warwick. She was formerly Professor of Art (Practice-led Research) in the School of Art & Design, Australian National University, Canberra. She trained as a painter and printmaker and maintains her practice alongside research and publishing in art history and visual culture. Her research specialisations are the history of artists' materials and techniques, representations of the body, gender and difference, and the relationship between theory and practice.
